Heartbeat-Ni :: About Us
Heartbeat-Ni is a parent-led charity dedicated to supporting families of children with congenital and acquired heart conditions. We aim to provide information and support to these families while raising awareness of the needs of children with heart conditions and their families.
Over 200 babies are born each year in Northern Ireland with heart conditions and we aim to provide a network of parents throughout the province who are available and willing to help parents through the trauma of finding out that their child has a heart defect.
We aim to work closely with condition-specific charities throughout the UK in a bid to provide even more information and support and to gain recognition of their specific needs. We have built up an extensive network of contacts with these charities and this in turn will provide us with one-to-one contacts as an when required.
Fundraising will be a by-product of our work and any monies raised will be used to help provide an MRI Scanner for the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children. In this respect we will be working closely with Carrickmannon MRI Support Group. Funding will also be available for Clark Clinic at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children to purchase equipment identified by the staff and also items for patient comforts.
